Ann Ang

Dr Ann Ang is a lecturer in English Literature at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She recently completed her DPhil in postcolonial and world literature at Wadham College, Oxford. Her research interests are transnational and postcolonial writing from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and India, modernist ecological thinking and tropicality. Ann's always curious about why the decolonial and postcolonial still matters now, and Reading Decoloniality offers an opportunity for ECRs like her to look beyond regional or cultural specialisations. Horizontal networks like these matter because institutions prefer to organise knowledge-building according to their own priorities. Her research has appeared in the Journal of Postcolonial Writing, the Cambridge Journal of Postcolonial Literary Inquiry and ELH. Ann's also preparing a monograph on Anglophone world writing from Southeast Asia and co-editing a creative anthology of Southeast Asian ecowriting, while exploring how creative writing can be used in the literature classroom.
